LA Untapped Solar Potential is Staggering
Los Angeles has a tremendous, untapped potential for solar growth. A new report reveals that the rooftops in LA alone could support some 5,500 megawatts of solar power (only 68 MW is currently installed). This much solar would be equal to taking 230,000 cars off the road and could save the city 435 million gallons of water each year.

for me as a european, it’s unbelievable. seriously.
to watch later.
this is why racism is not a fucking joke, if you dont understand what Natives deal with, why we’re angry, watch this and you will understand
I can’t stop crying.
So much love to Megan Bertasson for her bravery in sharing her stories.
Canada does not give a shit.
It really doesn’t. Our dehumanization, especially that of Native women, is total.
and I’m sorry, but to the “as a European” person: if this is unbelievable, your blinders must be something else. Fuckin believe it, and remember that the vast edifices of Europe were bought and paid for with the blood and suffering of billions.
I have nothing else to say. I cried. I’m pissed.
because no one gives a shit.

Hobby Lobby announced on Friday that it will ignore the ruling of U.S. courts and refuse to provide copay-free birth control access to its employees. It will do so despite whatever costs it may incur, even if they are higher than the cost of birth control itself.
Entire species of marine life will never be seen in the Anthropocene (the Age of Man), let alone tasted, if we do not curb our insatiable voracity for fish. Last year, global fish consumption hit a record high of 17 kg (37 pounds) per person per year, even though global fish stocks have continued to decline. On average, people eat four times as much fish now than they did in 1950.
Around 85% of global fish stocks are over-exploited, depleted, fully exploited or in recovery from exploitation. Only this week, a report suggested there may be fewer than 100 cod over the age of 13 years in the North Sea between the United Kingdom and Scandinavia. It’s a worrying sign that we are losing fish old enough to create offspring that replenish populations.
Rich marine biodiversity and healthy oceans are what sustain life on land and without both, all life suffers. This is important.

“Here’s what I truly believed happened during the last presidential election:
The GOP knew they were in a world of shit. They just oversaw the surplus that Clinton created turn into the next Depression in 8 short years….
Ocean acidification, which is currently at levels of 30% acidity and rising, has been called “global warming’s evil twin” and may be even more deadly and destructive than global warming itself, yet it receives very little media coverage. This is a huge media fail.
The First 70: California’s State Parks Being Closed
I had no idea but apparently California has started signing documents due to budget cuts to close 70 state parks. An idea that is absurd.“Last May California announced plans to close one quarter of their 278 parks, a devastating move that is intended to save the state a mere $22 million per year. The closure list includes thousands of acres of park land, recreation areas, wildlife reserves, and 50% of the state’s historic parks. By July 2012 Californians will be bereft of 70 magnificent natural parks. The media has done little to disclose the ongoing closures or emphasize their impact.”
I know I have a lot of readers out in California. Please, please reblog this and find out how you can help by clicking here!
AH!!! The frustration!!!
